Around the year 2000, China began promoting \u201ccultural industry\u201d at the national level, and Shenzhen adopted a city strategy of strengthening culture. This policy shift created a major opportunity for Dafen. With government support and infrastructure investment, Dafen developed new public art spaces, exhibition halls, galleries, and a more international village-style environment\u2014earning it the nickname of a \u201cEuropean-style oil painting village\u201d in Shenzhen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
