The subject—a female zebra presented to Queen Charlotte (wife of King George III) after being brought to England from the Cape of Good Hope—was an object of immense scientific curiosity and public fascination. Stubbs depicted the animal against a moody, romanticized English forest backdrop, combining groundbreaking anatomical realism with a gentle, noble presence. Preserved in the renowned collection of the Yale Center for British Art, this work stands as a landmark synthesis of natural history and fine art.

Points forts en matière de savoir-faire et de qualité de l'atelier

100% : réalisation d'un chef-d'œuvre peint à la main : Recreated entirely by hand by senior studio painters specializing in 18th-century classical glazing and animal portraiture.

Textural &
