Immerse yourself in the captivating charm of Giovanni Boldini’s early Parisian period. Model and mannequin (Berthe in the studio) (Modella e manichino, 1873) is a celebrated Impressionist genre painting that offers a rare, behind-the-scenes glimpse into artist Boldini’s creative sanctuary and his favorite early model, Berthe.
Our studio of skilled artists recreates this masterpiece brushstroke by brushstroke, preserving the original’s spontaneous energy, subtle lightplay, and rich texture.
Artwork History & Artistic Significance
Painted in 1873 shortly after Boldini settled in Paris, this artwork captures the artist’s fascination with studio life, light, and modern femininity. Boldini, who later became one of the world’s most sought-after society portraitists, demonstrates his brilliant Impressionist handling of color and quick, decisive draftsmanship in this piece. The subtle interplay between the living model and the artist’s mannequin creates an intriguing dynamic that makes this small piece an intriguing conversation starter for any art lover.
