Hand-Painted Oil Painting Reproduction “Albaydé” by Alexandre Cabanel – Dafen Village Studio

Painted in 1848 during his pensionnaire stay at the Villa Medici in Rome, Alexandre Cabanel’s Albaydé represents one of the artist’s earliest forays into romantic Orientalism and literary portraiture. Inspired by the heroine Albaydé from Victor Hugo’s celebrated 1829 poetry collection Les Orientales, the work depicts a languid, reclining young maiden draped in rich fabrics, gazes softly forward with a mix of innocence and exotic allure. The painting established Cabanel’s signature skill in rendering porcelain skin tones, lustrous textures, and dreamlike atmospheric shadows.

Recreated by senior figure painting specialists at Studio de peinture à l'huile du village de Dafen, this reproduction is executed strictly by hand on heavy-duty linen canvas. We never employ digital printing, canvas overlays, or mechanical shortcuts. Utilizing classical academic techniques—including charcoal underdrawing, soft anatomical modeling, and delicate multi-pass oil glazing—our artists faithfully capture the radiant skin, complex fabric textures, and sensual elegance of Cabanel’s original canvas.
