Robert Delaunay – The Bowl (1916) Orphism Masterpiece – Hand-Painted Oil Reproduction by Dafen Village Studio

Painted in 1916 while Robert and Sonia Delaunay were living in Vila do Conde, Portugal during World War I, The Bowl (Le Compotier) represents a landmark achievement in Orphism and Simultanism. Inspired by the intense sunlight, vibrant pottery, local markets, and traditional tilework of Northern Portugal, Delaunay fused classical still life motifs with revolutionary abstract color dynamics. Swirling concentric circles and radiant color arcs interact across the canvas, transforming a simple everyday vessel into an explosive study of light, rhythm, and optic movement.
