Juan Gris – Still Life with Bottle and Cigars (1912) Synthetic Cubism – Hand-Painted Oil Reproduction by Dafen Village Studio

Painted in 1912, Still Life with Bottle and Cigars is a rare and compelling horizontal panoramic still life by Juan Gris. Marking an early transition toward Synthetic Cubism, the work explores the subtle geometry of everyday tabletop pleasures—a wine bottle, cigar box, and cigars—deconstructed into overlapping horizontal and diagonal planes. Gris uses a warm, tactile palette of mahogany browns, ochres, muted grays, and soft creams, contrasting crisp structural lines with smooth tonal gradients. Recreating this artwork requires delicate micro-brushwork to capture the intricate details within its distinctive narrow format.
