Gustave Caillebotte: The Nap (1877) Impressionist Masterpiece – Hand-Painted Oil Reproduction by Dafen Village Studio

Created during Caillebotte’s summer stay at his family’s estate in Yerres in 1877, The Nap (La Sieste) offers a quiet, personal glimpse into 19th-century bourgeois leisure. The artwork depicts a figure resting peacefully outdoors under the gentle shade of lush garden trees, with soft sunlight filtering through the leaves onto the grass. Caillebotte uses subtle light-and-shadow interplay to create an overwhelming sense of stillness, relaxation, and warmth, demonstrating his mastery over intimate genre subjects.
