Created around 1937—a pivotal year marking László Moholy-Nagy’s move from London to Chicago to found the New Bauhaus—L & CH reflects his ongoing obsession with light, space, and graphic abstraction. Combining Dadaist experimental freedom with Constructivist order, the title and composition refer to typographic forms (“L” and “CH”) suspended over clean spatial planes. By contrasting crisp structural contours with transparent color overlaps, Moholy-Nagy turns linear graphics into a dynamic, multidimensional optical experience.
