László Moholy-Nagy – Mountains of Buda (c.1918) Figurative Canvas Art – Hand-Painted Oil Reproduction by Dafen Village Studio

Painted around 1918 in Budapest during the final years of World War I, Mountains of Buda offers a rare glimpse into László Moholy-Nagy’s early figurative and Expressionist development before his pivot toward pure Constructivism. Depicting the rolling, sun-drenched hills overlooking the historical city of Buda, the work reflects the influence of the Hungarian Activists and Fauvist color dynamics. Moholy-Nagy uses fluid brushwork, earthy hillsides, and structural terrain lines to turn a classic Hungarian landscape into a vibrant study of rhythm, natural form, and light.
