Paul Signac The Jetty at Cassis (1889) Pointillism – Hand-Painted Oil Reproduction by Dafen Village Studio

Painted in 1889 during Paul Signac’s transformative stay in the coastal town of Cassis along the French Riviera, The Jetty at Cassis (La Jetée de Cassis) represents a supreme milestone in his Neo-Impressionist journey. Capturing the tranquil pier stretching into the shimmering Mediterranean Sea, Signac executed the composition using strict Pointillist principles pioneered alongside Georges Seurat. Through meticulous placement of tiny, pure dots of color—vibrant blues, soft purples, radiant ochres, and pale sky highlights—Signac achieves an extraordinary optical radiance that evokes the warmth, stillness, and pristine light of Southern France.
