The Last Judgement (1452) by Petrus Christus – Hand-Painted Oil Painting Reproduction | Dafen Village Canvas Art

Signed and dated 1452 by Early Netherlandish master Petrus Christus—the primary successor to Jan van Eyck in Bruges—The Last Judgement (Het Laatste Oordeel) is a tour de force of Northern Renaissance sacred art, now preserved at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.

The vertical composition ($134 \times 56\text{ cm}$) depicts a powerful three-tiered cosmological vision:

• Heaven (Top): Christ sits enthroned in majesty as the supreme judge, flanked by the Virgin Mary, John the Baptist, apostles, and angels bearing instruments of the Passion.

• Earth & Judgment (Middle): The majestic Archangel Michael in gleaming armor stands victorious above Death, straddling the rift as resurrected souls rise to salvation or fall into the abyss.

• Hell (Bottom): Beneath the massive bat wings of Death, the damned plunge into a chaotic, terrifying underworld populated by monstrous demons.
