Painted in 1843 during Cabanel’s early years at the École des Beaux-Arts under François-Édouard Picot, Alexandre Cabanel’s Cincinnatus Receiving The Ambassadors From Rome illustrates the famous ancient Roman legend of Lucius Quinctius Cincinnatus. Called from his humble plow to serve as dictator of Rome in a time of crisis, Cincinnatus embodies civic duty, humility, and republican virtue. The original masterpiece resides in the Musée Fabre in Montpellier, France.
Recreated by senior history painting specialists at Dafen Village Oil Painting Studio, this reproduction is crafted strictly by hand on heavy-duty linen canvas. We never employ digital printing, canvas transfers, or mechanical overlays. Following classical academic painting techniques—including precise anatomical sketching and multi-pass oil glazing—our artists faithfully preserve the classical drapery folds, warm earthy palette, and heroic atmosphere of Cabanel’s early historical composition.
