Hand-Painted Oil Painting Reproduction “Self Portrait as a Child” by Alexandre Cabanel – Dafen Village Studio

Painted in 1836 when the artist was only thirteen years old, Alexandre Cabanel’s Self Portrait as a Child (Autoportrait à 13 ans) offers a rare and charming glimpse into the early talent of one of 19th-century France’s most celebrated Academic masters. The portrait showcases a soft, sensitive handling of light and form that foreshadows his later Salon triumphs. The original painting is housed in the artist’s hometown museum, the Musée Fabre in Montpellier, France.

Recreated by senior portrait painters at Dafen Village Oil Painting Studio, this reproduction is executed strictly by hand on heavy-duty linen canvas. We never use digital prints, canvas transfers, or automated under-layers. Following classical academic techniques, our artists build up subtle skin tones, soft contours, and gentle background gradients layer by layer to preserve the delicate warmth and intimate charm of Cabanel’s youthful self-portrait.
